"Oldies But Goodies" - Some of my favorite cards from the past! Done with my original artwork
Hope you all don't mind but I have not had a chance to make any cards this week so I thought I would post a few of my past favorites. These were pre-Trues-blog cards, so if you didn't see them on eBay or in my slide show, they will be new to you. BTW these were my highest selling cards on eBay so they must have been other people's favs too! ;)
Pardon the verbiage...I copied from the eBay listings to save time. You can tell I was trying to sell them! LOL!
"Sparkling Poinsettia" Card
I usually make a card then look for ribbon to match. This time it was the opposite. I found this gorgeous ribbon and based the card off of it. I don’t have any poinsettia stamps so I had to get creative. Each petal and leaf were individually hand cut, painted, and glittered with a coordinating color. I then went around all of the edges with gold glitter so they would look like the poinsettias on the ribbon. They were then intricately attached to the card in a way that it looks so realistic! The flower was very tedious and time consuming but the final result was well worth the effort!
It is made with the highest quality cardstocks and and envelope have all been stitched with a beautiful gold metallic thread that matches the gold on the ribbon. The inside sentiments and Noel on the fronts were heat embossed with gold embossing powders for a very polished look. The center of the flower was made with gold glitter glue and iridescent seed beads.
This card comes with a handmade box envelope to accommodate the deep 3 dimensional features of the flower. The envelope has the same pretty gold scalloped stitching all the way around the front. It is are lined with a pretty designer poinsettia cardstock and have a beautiful golden ribbon that holds it closed.
"Pumpkin Sparkle Quilt" Card
I saw a picture of a quilt in one of my quilting catalogs and thought that it would make a nice card. Of course I had to adapt it to paper but the results are awesome if I say so myself! ;) The card is even nicer in person! To be honest, I almost kept this one for myself!
It is a large card...about 6’ by 6 ½ and is a substantial weight because of the many layers of high end cardstock. If you count from the center of the pumpkin to the back of the card, there are a whopping 21 layers! You can even feel the quality of this one! It is done in oranges, green, brown and black. Each color of the freehand cut pumpkin is a different layer popped up for a 3 dimensional effect. Notice that every layer is also stitched as you would in a quilt. I sponge painted the checkerboard boarder with black acrylic paint then stitched around every square. The black background behind the pumpkin is accented with a pretty scalloped stitching. I die cut the leaves then dry embossed the veins and added several colors of sparkle. This entire card sparkles and shines!
Open the card to reveal that the inside is almost as fabulous as the outside! It too has multiple layers with fancy stitching. I multi color stamped the beautiful “Be Thankful” pane and framed it on the left of the inside leaving more space on the right side for your special message. The inside is decorated with a beautiful sparkling sheer ribbon that I was so excited to find!
The envelope is handmade out of heavy cardstock and specially shaped to accommodate the depth of the 3D pumpkin. I even added stitching details to the envelope!
"Give Thanks For The Simple Things" Card
This is a hand sketched and hand painted 6” by 6” original artwork card entitled "Simple Things". It was done in the style of one of my favorite calendar artists. The colors are very rich oranges, reds, greens, cream and black.
The image on the front is hand sketched and painted with acrylics. The main panel is a little work of art by itself! There is a mischievous looking cat peeking out from behind some pumpkins with a curious crow standing by. The main panel is popped form the sponge painted and machine stitched checkerboard background. The pumpkins are popped a couple of times and the crow is popped also. Open the card to reveal more pretty cardstock. I didn’t use any white stock in this one and it really gives it a rich polished look. The images inside have been heat embossed and painted. There as a wonderful sentiment that states “Give thanks for the simple things in life.”
This card has lots of layers of Bazzill and other high quality cardstock. Both the front and inside have pretty stitching detail throughout. They are also are nicely coordinated and the envelope is hand made out of pretty cardstock that also has stitching detail and a painted pumpkin adorning the lower corner.
I did not use any hardware embellishments because I did not want to take away from my painting and the simple elegance of the card. The front, inside and envelope all have lots of sparkle with multi colors of Stickles.
Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my "oldies but goodies!
I would love it if you left a comment! ;)
