"Enjoy the Journey" - Mixed Media ATC for MIX9 @ SplitCoast Stampers
Hi Everyone!
It's Friday, and time for another Mix-ability challenge over at SplitCoast Stampers!
I am so happy to be one of the co-hostesses of this cool weekly challenge. I love joining in with the rest of the hostess's challenges It is a great way to learn some fun mixed media techniques using supplies that most of us already have at home.
This week is Lydia Fiedler's turn to host and she has come up with MIX9 - "Construction Zone". All you have to do is use some kind of metal and paint or ink on your project, with sanding as an extra feature if you like.
Here is a peek at the ATC sample that I created for Lydia.
(Remember that you can click the image to enlarge for a closer look)
What is an ATC? It is a 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" miniature piece of art that is created by an artist in his/her own style, to give/trade for other similar cards.
I have done a few in the past but am really enjoying them a lot more as of late. ;)
For this one, I started by painting the card base with gesso and Ranger Ink's Studio acrylic paints. I then crinkled some tinfoil and adhered it to the card base. I painted the foil with gesso and acrylic paint. let it dry, then washed it with thinned black paint and blotted some of it off. After it all dried, I sanded the high spots to reveal some of the foil. I added some gold paint (with some bubble wrap) and some gold-leafing to finish off the base.
I stamped a sentiment from Stamper's Anonymous #CSM155 Simple Sayings by Tim Holtz on to a scrap piece of cardstock that I had already painted to match. I then added some gold paint and covered it with UTEE. I cut it to fit a Ranger Ink's - Idea-ology Ornate Plates by Tim Holtz, and attached it to the card with the provided brads.
To see the entire ATC, please CLICK HERE.
Here is a bonus ATC that I created last minute for both this challenge, and for my new friend Mary Knapp's birthday.
She said she loves butterflies, glitter, and her favorite colors are pink, teal, and silver.
I used Basic Grey's - Knee Highs designer paper.
The butterfly is from my "Swirly Butterflies" stamp set that I illustrated for Inky Antics. I stamped Perfect Medium onto some clear acetate, sprinkled on some Ranger Ink silver embossing powder, heat set it then cut it out. I then stamped the image again and "colored" it in with Art Glitter glitters, then attached the acetate butterfly over the top.
Thanks so much for dropping by!

Join Us in a Brand New Mixed Media Challenge Feature on SplitCoastStampers!
Hi Everyone!
I was honored to be asked to help hostess the brand new Mixed Media challenge on Fridays over at SplitCoastStampers!
It's not my turn to host, but I plan on participating every week. It's all about showing how fun and easy mixed media can be. Today is the first challenge and the hostess is Ms. Lydia Feidler. She created a beautiful project and a fun video showing the Yin Yang technique she is sharing. It's a simple one. Just use a gloss and a matte medium together on a project.

Really Reasonable Ribbon's January Blog Hop and My New Inky Antics Stamp and Paper Release!
Hi everyone!
Welcome to another...
If you are here from the Really Reasonable Ribbon's Ramblings blog, you are in the right place! If you just happened onto my blog, head back there to start from the beginning. You don't want to miss a thing!
Besides the hop, I have something else fun going on. I have 6 brand new Inky Antics stamp sets and a new paper line debuting this weekend in Anaheim, CA at CHA!
Not a ribbon club member? CLICK HERE to see how to get a beautiful set of assorted ribbons delivered to your mailbox every month! :)
For my first card, I chose to use the solid pink satin ribbon from the set with images and sentiments from my #11155MC Swirly Bird Inky Antics Clear Stamp Set, and my #IA-PAC0003 "Everything's Coming Up Roses" designer paper.
I colored the images with Prismacolor Pencils and gamsol, then added the little white dots with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.
I popped up parts of the birds using a different technique than I usually use. Here are a few pictures to show how I did it.

For my second card, I used the iridescent white ribbon from the set.
I just love how it sparkles so I added lots of sparkle to my card to match.
The cardstock again is from Discount Card Stock and the Purple Rhinestones from Want2Scrap.
I created the swirly background paper by embossing some brilliant White cardstock, inking the raised areas with yellow ink, then adding some Art Glitter over that.

Really Reasonable Ribbon's October Blog Hop! :)
Hi everyone, and welcome to our October...
If you are here from the Really Reasonable Ribbons Ramblings blog, you are in the right place. If you just happened upon my blog, you will want to go back there and start from the beginning. :)
The girls have all prepared projects to share using the October Ribbon Club assortment. It is full of fun Christmas/Winter prints as well as some solids and lace.
Not a ribbon club member yet? CLICK HERE to get details on how you can get a pretty surprise assortment of ribbons in your mail box every month. :)
Once again, I had trouble deciding which to use so I made three cards. If you are like me, you have so many Christmas cards to make, that you just have to make them quick and easy. One way to add a little extra something is to use a printed ribbon. I didn't even put a bow on theses since they will be mailed and I was afraid it might be too bulky for standard postage. (Normally it doesn't bother me a bit to pay a little extra postage, but as many Christmas cards as we send out, extra postage would really add up quick.
I just used Brilliant White, Really Red, and Forest Green cardstock form Discount Card Stock, (no designer paper) to let the ribbon shine. The colors coordinate perfectly! The cardstock was embossed with Spellbinder's - Holly Ribbon embossing folder.
Isn't it amazing what a little 5" strip of ribbon can do to pretty up a card?
The pearls are from Want2Scrap.
What stamp did I use you ask? :)
Mine! :)
I illustrated six sets of "Punny Christmas Critters" for Inky Antics.
This one is #11125MC "Punny Christmas Cows".
(Just copy and past "Punny Christmas Critters" into the search box at the top of the Inky Antics page and click "GO" to see all of the sets.)
Make sure and leave comments along the way to increase your chances of winning this wonderful prize from Really Reasonable Ribbon!
Happy hopping!
